Looks like we're a pretty big drain on this community.

[She's wary as she writes it. Most of the people who'll see this, she hopes, are from the same Luceti she is. But there's no guarantee.]

So I'm organizing a hunting party.

Anyone who doesn't know how to hunt and wants to learn? Meet me at six in the morning by the stable.

Those of us who do know how to hunt will pair you up with a buddy. We'll leave at six-thirty sharp.

Hunting'll be Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Fishing'll be Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

[If there's one thing she learned in Luceti -- learned from Katniss -- it's how important these skills are.]

If we're going to strain these folks' resources? Least we can do is try to help.

You talked about having experience. That's a plus.

I've been hunting the forests for two years, so I know not too many people around here actually hunt. So, it's good to hear some other people have some practice.

Especially with how much people seem to like to defy them.

Don't get me wrong-- I'd defy them too if given the chance. I just know how to pick my battles.

I wouldn't. I'd rather work with them -- for them, if I could.

Especially if the alternative is leaving this world.

I can't say I understand your reasons, but I'm sure you have them. I won't ask why. At least you realize that they aren't as benevolent as they like to pretend.

They want to find a way to send us back -- if I'm working for them, they won't send me back.

Heh. You have a point there. I suppose just asking them nicely not to send you back wouldn't have quite the same effect.

Indeed. It's a good asset to have, as you never know when you'll be thrown into a situation where it becomes necessary.

[And he had been thrown into said situations back home. Many, many times. Sometimes there just wasn't even gald to buy the food necessary to cook, and battling monsters for the sake of food had been too much of a risk. Knowing how to hunt and fish was essential--he learned that back when he was traveling with his original companions all those years ago.]

However, while I possess the ability in general, I cannot claim to have much experience with doing so in these forests.

What gave you the impression I was only referring to myself? Furthermore, I cannot pretend to have knowledge on the act of hunting itself. The only thing I know for certain I am 'good' at are the skills I've spent many years honing.

[Which is exactly what he was saying earlier, so he doesn't understand why Clove's still snapping at him as if he's being arrogant. Did he use poor wording, perhaps? Not being provocative is so difficult when you've spent seven years doing just that.]

With all of us [ pause, as he figures out how to word this ] being new here, do you think there's enough to hunt?

I guess I only know about eating a few different animals, but I'm not sure there's enough of them. We can't really go out that far.

Mmhm. I asked her for advice. How to try and do the same thing.

The forests here tend to be pretty abundant, from what I've noticed. Game to spare.

Only weird thing is, well. The animals talk. So if it bothers you hearing something like that plead for its life, it might be kind of hard here.

I'll be looking at everyone's skills. If we're going to do this, I want to make sure it's done right. I'm not looking to make friends with this venture -- just to organize a hunting party.

The forest's smaller, but it seems to have plenty of animals. We can't hunt too much or we'll kill too many, but we can get enough to make some weak soup, at least. Make sure those who are working get enough to eat that they don't collapse.

Then deal with not getting much sleep.

Man, Clove... You really drive a hard bargain.
